Our Story
Able Foundation's journey began with a focus on dyslexia awareness and support for learners who learn differently. The organisation was established as Dyslexia Malawi after a growing recognition of the challenges faced by learners with dyslexia and the limited understanding of learning differences within families, schools and communities.
Over time, the organisation's work expanded beyond dyslexia to address broader issues affecting children and young people with disabilities and learning difficulties. This evolution led to the development of Able Foundation, reflecting a wider commitment to disability inclusion, inclusive education, skills development and meaningful participation.
Today, Able Foundation works to create opportunities for children and young people with disabilities to learn, develop their abilities, participate in their communities and build confidence. Its work brings together education, learning support, awareness, teacher engagement, family and community involvement, practical skills, creative activities and inclusive sports.
Our journey continues to be guided by a simple belief:

Our vision
We envision a Malawi where people with disabilities and learning differences are understood, respected and included, and where they have equitable opportunities to access education, develop skills, participate in society and pursue their aspirations.
Our Mission
To promote inclusion and create meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities and learning differences through education, awareness, skills development, advocacy, partnerships and community engagement.
We work with learners, families, educators, communities and other stakeholders to strengthen understanding of disability and learning differences and to develop practical approaches that support participation and opportunity.
Our Purpose

Able Foundation exists to help address the barriers that can prevent people with disabilities and learning differences from fully participating in education and society.
We focus on what people can do, while recognising the support and accessible environments they may need to develop their abilities.
Our work therefore goes beyond awareness. We aim to connect awareness with practical learning, skills, participation, confidence and opportunity.
